Keep in mind, however, that your guinea pig will not be able to tell the difference between the fleece blanket made by you and the litter in their corner. The blanket will need to get washed often.

Can guinea pigs have fleece bedding?

They can. People use a fleece blanket made from guinea pigs for their pet to lay on when they are not in their cage. You can also use it to cover your pet and make them laugh. Others use it in place of traditional bedding. You will save money by using fleece bedding instead of wood shavings. It will still need to be washed. You will need to make at least three to four copies to keep on hand.

Can fleece be harmful to guinea-pigs?

It is okay for your guinea-pig to use the fleece bedding as long as they don’t eat it. Too much fleece can lead to impacted teeth. You can replace the fleece blanket if they start to nibble on it.

Tips for Guinea Pig Throw Blankets

So that your piggy doesn’t have to wash one blanket, you will need to keep at least one fleece blanket for guinea pigs. The number of blankets you will need depends on whether it is used as bedding, a toy, or a special occasion item.

A waterproof underpad will be needed in the middle. This will prevent piggy odors and keep them dry.

To ensure your throw blanket lasts as long possible, make sure it is made of fleece that doesn’t pill. You will need to replace it if it starts to fray or become pilly.

Can you hand wash fleece blankets made by guinea-pigs?

You can wash fleece blankets made by guinea-pigs by hand. You can also wash it in the delicate cycle. Hang it out to dry, not put it in the dryer. The absorbent liner will take longer drying time.
